Here at Multipipe, we are passionate about the future of the plumbing and heating industry. That’s why we were delighted to return to Colchester Institute this week, continuing our commitment to building strong relationships with local education providers.

Our visit was two-fold: to share essential, up-to-date industry knowledge with the next generation of installers and to discuss how we can support the college’s important sustainability targets.

Sharing Knowledge with Plumbing Students

We had a fantastic session presenting to the Institute’s plumbing students. The Multipipe team shared insights into modern installation techniques, focusing on the efficiency and reliability of:

  • MLCP (Multi-Layer Composite Pipe)

  • Press Fit Plumbing Systems

We highlighted how these technologies are changing the industry, offering high-performance, cost-effective, and often quicker-to-install alternatives to traditional materials like copper and push-fit. Providing this practical knowledge ensures students are equipped with the skills demanded by today’s marketplace.

A Sustainable Solution for Training

A key part of our visit involved constructive discussions with the college staff about their goals for a more sustainable campus and training environment.

One major challenge for plumbing and heating programs is the significant material waste—and associated cost—generated during practical student training. When students work with traditional copper, offcuts and practice pieces often become single-use waste. This not only burdens the college with disposal but also creates a significant expense.

This is where MLCP provides an innovative solution.

By using MLCP for student practice, the material can be safely reused time and time again for different exercises and training modules. This dramatically reduces material consumption and waste, making the training process far more cost-effective and aligning perfectly with Colchester Institute’s ambition to become more sustainable.

At Multipipe, we believe that investing in education means investing in efficiency and a greener future for the trade. We are proud to work alongside Colchester Institute to support their students with essential product knowledge and their campus with practical sustainability solutions.
