Screed underfloor heating systems position heating pipe within a suitable floor screed, creating a large thermal mass that distributes heat evenly across the room. This construction is widely used in new-build and major renovation projects where floor depth and programme allow.
A complete screed system may include PE-RT or other compatible pipe, insulation, edge strip, fixing rails or clips, manifolds, controls and pump components. Floor build-up, heat loss, pipe spacing and circuit length should be designed before materials are ordered.
The pipe must be secured and pressure tested before screeding. The screed should then be installed, cured and commissioned in accordance with the relevant flooring and heating-system guidance.
